Description

The Arceau line designed by Henri d'Origny in 1978 lends itself to a new expression of style and evokes the spirit of travel according to Hermès. Made of platinum and topped by a black DLC titanium bezel, its round case with asymmetrical lugs frames a unique reading of the world's hours.

A gravitational counter travels across the continents, moving from city to city, flying over time zones. The "travelling time" mechanism exclusively developed for Hermès, reinterprets an Haute Horlogerie complication, displaying 24 time zones by means of a circular disc.

For the tenth edition of Only Watch, the Arceau watch is wearing the event's flagship colours: red, blue, green and yellow. Combined with Hermès orange, these luminous shades adorn the cities disk in a light to dark gradient. The 41mm diameter case, enhanced by a matt black DLC-treated titanium bezel and an orange-yellow crystal seal, highlights the blue-lacquered mobile counter with luminescent hands and powdered Arabic numerals. A matt Mykonos blue alligator strap with cactus green lining, crafted in the Hermès Horloger workshops, accentuates the radiance of this one-of-a-kind timepiece.

The brand

Hermès

Founded in Paris in 1837, the House of Hermès built its reputation for excellence on its skill in making horse saddles. In the early 20th century, it further developed this know-how acquired in the field of leather craftsmanship, notably by producing belts, clothes and bags. The Hermès watchmaking tradition dates back to the 1920s, when its saddle-making talent was first exercised on watch straps.

In 1928, the first Hermès watches were presented in the company store at 24, Faubourg Saint-Honoré. At the time, Hermès placed its signature on “timepieces” created in cooperation with the greatest names in the Swiss watch industry before founding in 1978 the Ateliers de La Montre Hermès in Biel, Switzerland. Hermès has acquired a financial stake in Vaucher Manufacture in Fleurier (movements), as well as buying up Natéber SA in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 2012 (dials) and Joseph Erard SA in Le Noirmont in 2013 (cases). As from 2017, the case and dial entities have been brought together in Le Noirmont under the name of Les Ateliers d’Hermès Horloger.
